Nearly there

It was a race today. Breakfast wasn’t until 8.30 and by 9.00am we were walking. From Hope Cove to Salcombe is 8.1 miles and the SWCP book says the walk is strenuous. The book says the walk can be done in 4 hours but we rarely achieve the stated time and never ever when it is billed as a tough walk like today. We wanted to catch the bus at 2.30pm to enable us to arrive home at 7.30pm but we must have flown as we just caught the 1.30pm bus and it was a 40 minute walk to the bus stop, then waited at Kingsbridge and had a hot drink and treat before catching another bus to Totnes where we ran for the train that was just approaching. We changed trains at Exeter and arrived home at 5.30pm just ready to watch Nadal and Federer. We enjoyed today’s walk and there were some tough climbs but we were really motoring. This was the scene that greeted us as we approached the entrance to Salcombe Harbour. We had a gentle wind blowing us along today and keeping us cool after three very warm days.
