Vegan Restaurant

I don’t think there can be many vegans in Prague!

Tony and I are back in Prague after saying our goodbyes to Tomáš and Markéta at Zabreh train station. The two hour journey in Business Class: leather seats; bags of legroom; free WiFi; free bottled water; free hot/cold drink and free food cost us £15 each!

We dropped our bags at the Hotel Exe and chose a walking route around the city, taking in the ornate Jewish Synagogue; Wenceslas Square and Kampa with its canal and water wheels. We headed upwards through the Lesser Town to take in the view of Prague from close to the Castle. It’s really busy today so after dodging our way through the crowds and hawkers across Charles Bridge, we took a quieter route to Narodni and returned to our young friend Filip’s favourite restaurant, Louvre. Think Czech Betty’s! Excellent service, fine surroundings and tasty food. Tony had the goulash with spinach Carlsbad dumplings and I had chicken in yummy pepper sauce with spatzle, all beautifully cooked and presented. We even had room for apple strudel and vanilla sauce, washed down with home made lemonade flavoured with mint and strawberry!

Then it was back on to the streets with a view of visiting the Jewish Cemetery and Museum, but we had forgotten it was the Jewish Sabbath so that will be on the list for tomorrow. We rested awhile on a seat by the River Vlatava, watching the tourist boats go by and then decided to try book in at the hotel via the very good bookshop in the station. A Brookmyre secured, we are now relaxing in our room watching the last few kilometres of today’s Tour de France stage.
