Kick-off

A new football season got underway today with (now First Division) Falkirk hosting Premier League side Livingston in the group stages of the Scottish League Cup.

A last-minute goal earned the Bairns a 1-1 draw, but this competition comes with a penalty shoot-out in the event of a tie, with the winners gaining a bonus point. Unfortunately for the home side, Livingston were better at this aspect of the game and ran out 4-3 winners with one kick remaining. Most Falkirk fans would have settled for that at the start of the day.

Next up: Stranraer at home on Tuesday evening, before an away match at Ayr United next Saturday. After that we might have a better idea as to how our season will unfold.
