Everyday I Write The Book

Finding Nemo

For some reason there is a pub in Ripley called The Jovial Sailor, which is odd given the fact that it is nowhere near the sea and even some way away from the Wey, which is the nearest bit of navigable water. No matter, it allows them to indulge a nautical theme; so The Dizzle booked one of their garden huts for a summer evening’s supper and our one was called Nemo.

We over-ate somewhat, with the exception of TSM. The enormously exciting end to the Cricket World Cup was a major distraction, England’s winning margin probably being about a metre or less for the final run of the match, which ended in a run out. It really doesn’t get much closer than that.

Earlier in the day we had H&M over for tea, two of our next door neighbours (mother and son). M spent a lot of time playing with Dylan - they have a special relationship - whilst the rest of us just got to know each other a bit better.

The Dizzle did take my e-bike out for a ride today. He found it anxious, exhilarating and surprisingly good exercise, but then he never rode a bike as a child. He did better than Phoebe in a famous episode of Friends and is planning to get some more practice in before trying a long journey.

I had another excellent day health wise - the steroids are proving transformational, both in terms of addressing my physical health problems and giving me more energy. I haven’t felt this good in a long time and cracked on with the domestics and the gardening as if I were twenty years younger.

Been a great weekend and it isn’t over yet ...
