Rove beetle

The hot, summer days have seen an influx of insects and other animals into the house.

This rove beetle was very uncooperative and as soon as I had talked it into submission, it opened the front wings (the hardened orange apparatus at the front of the abdomen, and extended the rear wings and flew away!

Thanks to the keen eye of AJC below, I have corrected my identification of the above to a rove beetle. Thank you very much
