Great Asby Scar NNR

We went to see if there were any butterflies or flowers at Great Asby. When Rob retired, the zero grazing regime that he had instigated to restore the vegetation was instantly revoked and a herd of cows were set loose. They did a lot of damage very quickly especially around the area where they were given supplemental feed and we swore to never go back as it was so awful.
However the cows are not there at the moment and we had a great walk. There were plenty of Dark Green Fritillaries and Small Heath,, and thyme carpets everywhere.
This honeysuckle is looking great creeping over the limestone pavement and the cows can’t get there!
