Taking the Biscuit

Most people who visit Yorkshire end up at a Betty’s.
A craft bakers and tea rooms in Harrogate, York , Northallerton or Ilkley.
People often have to queue to either buy their produce in the shops or to eat in the cafe.
Not cheap but it is an experience and the quality is second to none.
Waitresses still dress very similar to when the first establishment opened 100 years ago this week.

The original baker came from Switzerland after a tough early life, he lost his mother to illness when he was two and the lost his father and older sister when their bakery caught fire.
He came to Yorkshire and opened his first shop in Harrogate.
As a child l was often taken to a Bettys for a treat and l still take my granddaughters there for the same reason.

Special items have been made to celebrate the centenary including the hand made biscuit in my Blip.
Along with the biscuit l bought one of they curd tarts as l do have a bit of a weakness for them and my will power was low today.
When l got the biscuit out of the bag l knocked her head off ( clumsy is my middle name) when we stopped laughing l stuck it back on an took a quick photograph.
Thought it might do for Silly Saturday as she does look fun.
Biscuit now eaten.
