Newhaven at last

A sail! A flat morning gave way to a very breezy afternoon and who arrived to chum me around the harbour but Misterft and his weans. Their last joint outing for a while. So we decided a visit to Newhaven harbour was in order having been buffeted awhile out in the roads. I fondly imagined the harbour would be thronged with sightseers admiring my fine vessel in the evening light, but it was so gusty that few were about. The Little Michael did come in behind us and their crew sat awhile with their fish and chips while we cracked open a beer. We raced them back. They won. Though we did give them a good start.
Elsewhere, I believe a couple of vaguely British ships have been seized by Iran in the least surprising development of the year. The Revolutionary Guards could have sent us a postcard telling us what they were doing and someone in Whitehall would probably just have added it to the in-tray for next week. Still, the crew are just a bunch of poor Asians and there’s no shortage of laid-up tankers to replace those, so nah nah nah!
