Hot Gull

We went back to the beach this afternoon, but it was hotter than yesterday.  It was 97 which with the humidity felt like 112.  There was onlly a weak southerly breeze so it wasn't very cooling.  I didn't feel much like taking photos, but did pull out my camera when I walked down the boardwalk to the facilities.  The beach was packed and overall if not for the good company of our friends, it would have been an unpleasant experience.

After were returned to the house and showered we headed out for dinner to a place called the Market Grove about 30 minutes away.  It is in the country, off the beaten track and looks like a shack from the outside.  There are only 15 tables, and reservations need to be made 2 weeks in advance.  The chairs are plastic lawn chairs and the tables are pretty basic.  There are no menus (so no prices) and they only take cash.  The waitress told us what was on the menu and each dish sounded so delicious that it was hard to make a choice. There was an extensive wine cellar and we had some delicious  New Zealand and French wines.  The air conditioning was weak, but the ceiling fans helped keep things fairly comfortable.  To say that the meal was extraordinary is almost an understatement.  Don't get me wrong, I am a white tablecloth girl and could have been easily put off by this place if it hadn't been highly recommended.  Now I can't wait to go back.
