Water fight!

Our longtime friends, their kids and grandkids came over for the afternoon. What a great time we all had! Highlight of the day was the water fight that G had set up after Kalyn and Marky thought that water balloons would be fun. There were 2 teams with all the grandkids except the 2-year old who was having a nap. G and Marky had set up a big circle with ropes and a big bucket of water in the middle. Each team had an empty bucket a fair distance away from the bucket inside and about 70 water balloons (Marky and Kalyn had filled them in the morning) in a container of water. The idea was to "attack" the other team with the balloons, run into the circle and fill a yogurt container of water while avoiding being hit with a balloon, run back and pour the water into their bucket. The first team to fill their bucket would win. G had collected a bunch of lids for them to use as shields, and it was hilarious to watch them trying to hit their opponents while using the shields  for protection. Kalyn and Marky were careful not to throw hard, Kalyn using her left hand and Marky lobbing the balloons. Even the 4-year-old got into the action. One team had sneakily put some balloons in the lawn mower trailer, and when they ran out of the ones in their container, their dad drove them around so they could surprise the other team with a surprise attack and throw those. We had asked in advance if the water balloons would be okay, and the kids brought bathing suits with them. They had a blast. I didn't want to post a photo of all the kids so Kalyn is featured...again. :) They were all moving so fast and I was laughing so hard that I'm surprised I got any photos at all.
After the water fight
Before and after the water fight, all the kids except the 2 little ones got a chance to drive the lawn mower with their cousins riding in the trailer, which they loved as well.
Later, the two dads from Toronto, Kalyn, Marky and I played Bump, a warm up often used before basketball practices. It was really fun too, and I was feeling it, getting my touch back, made a few swishes - but then I pulled a calf muscle. Ouch! Hobbling a bit.
What a great day! Kalyn and Marky were such good helpers, thankful they were here. Delicious food, excellent company, family fun, lots of laughter. So wonderful to spend time with people we love.
