Life through the lens...

No teaspoons

Visited Fairburn Ings this morning, hoping to see the young Spoonbills, nicknamed “teaspoons”.
However no luck, not even a sighting of the adult birds. A gentleman kindly told us he had seen 17 two weeks ago!

Lunch was a burger and chips at The Pit Stop Cafe, Ledston Luck enterprise park.
( we call it Penelope Pit Stops. You will probably know why!)
The buildings were part of the old coal mine.
That is now a Nature Reserve.
Managed by Yorkshire Wild Life. Another of their “ Secret Places”.
Wow, was it hot! 33C!
We only had a quick look round.
Plenty of dragon flies ( see extra. Think it is a Ruddy Darter, although have probably got that wrong as usual)
Lots of butterflies too. All too quick for me.
However I did manage a few photos of this 5 spot burnet moth, and friend.
So did manage a blipfor Tiny Tuesday.

We were glad to get back home, and sit in the shade, with of course a Magnum to oolus down.

Going nowhere tomorrow. Staying home and keeping cool.
Will be watching Le Tour as they are cycling through Vaison la Romaine. Looking forward to seeing it, and many of the villages we know well, as we haven’t been this year.

Hope you are enjoying the summer weather, and managing to stay cool.
Not often I say that!
