Forestry Forwarder .....

A busy one today. The first job was to treat 3 cows out of the batch of 45 we brought in yesterday to wean. They all had mastitis, and at best will loose the ability to produce milk in each infected quarter of their udder. Which means they lack the ability to feed their calf.
At worst the infection can kill them.
Stripped out as much of the cottage cheese from each teat as I could then put antibiotics up each tear canal . Followed by a daily injection of penicillin for 3-5 days .
While trying to avoid getting my teeth kicked out . The joys.
The rest of the day spent baling the silage that got drowned during the thunder and lightning early yesterday. Wee brother wrapping them in plastic and Kev carting in bales. Once he knocked off I took over but the air con has packed in in the tractor I had so it was a tad warm . Even resorted to taking the boiler suit then the shirt off ! Not a pretty sight but needs must.
This forwarder was dropped off at the sand quarry ready to start hauling the timber from the wee wood we felled last week.
