Desperately seeking

New Year's Eve

This tradition began about 12 years ago when a friends son asked his father if he could collect a boat from Pembroke and help to get it to Lewis. The friend asked The Man for help and company in this between Christmas and New Year.

Such was the fun of doing this, the two wondered what they could do the following Christmas time and it was decided that a cinema visit to see The Fellowship of The Rings would be good.

After 2 more years Tolkien films we had to create our own entertainment and now our home is the setting for a day of eating well, drinking as much as we want to and watching a choice of DVDs up big on the wall.

Things have changed down the years but there is always at least one choice of DVD that all 3 of us, Chippy, The Man and I enjoy. This year the best choice was a Kenneth Branagh film: My Week With Marilyn, a true story about Marilyn Munro.

Other DVDs watched were:-
Night at The Museum
Lost in Translation
The Dark Night Rises
Battleship

I had saved a bottle of Glen Moray, given by a friend, for the evening. We were going to open her other gift of bubbly but decided that the malt was just a perfect way to bring in the New Year.
