Flower Friday: Thug

Cathy calls these Japanese Anemones "thugs", as they will (if allowed) quickly take over the garden and out compete most other plants.  But they do provide a welcome spot of colour just as everything else is starting to die down and look tired.  They seem to be flowering slightly earlier this year, possibly something to do with this year's weather conditions.

I managed to cycle into work this morning, despite yesterday's excesses, and felt considerably better for it :-). Its been a surprisingly quiet day on the phone and e-mail front.  Summer holidays having started the pace of working life may be calming down a bit, which would be very welcome if it continues.

Cathy doesn't work full time nowadays and had one of her friends over for lunch.  When I got home I was told that the friend had raved about how good the bread rolls  were that I had baked - "the nicest bread rolls" she had ever eaten apparently.  Praise indeed!  I must make some more this weekend :-)
