Leighton Moss

Linda and I have had a really lovely day today in the company of Knottman2 and Mrs K.  They introduced us to nearby Leighton Moss reserve where we were able to see a great variety of birdlife including knot, dunlin, snipe, an avocet, a whooper swan, redshank, sandpipers, little stint and a water rail.  I shall certainly have to brush up on my wading bird identifications as these are not all familiar species to me.  I particularly enjoyed seeing the snipe at close quarters from the Eric Morecambe hide.  Mr and Mrs K were such wonderful hosts and so generous in sharing their local knowledge with us.
