Le Grand Tour de Bretagne - Jour 14

Alignements du Ménec, Carnac, Brittany

An overcast day, but still dry and warm at 23 degrees.

A morning walk around the famous standing stones of Carnac, though we only saw a fraction of the prehistoric menhirs, which total well over 3000; through ancient woods where I came across these poetic words (extra 1); to Tumulus St-Michel for views reaching out to the Golfe du Morbihan (extra 2).

From Carnac it was only a short hop to Locmariaquer, where we found a lovely little campsite, a peaceful haven full of colourful flowers, and yet only a short walk to the harbour. Everywhere we’ve been in Brittany, we’ve been surrounded by flowers, especially Hydrangeas and Hollyhocks, and Locmariaquer was no exception (extra 3).

(14th backblip. It’s now day 22 and on ferry heading home. Things have gone a bit pear-shaped in the last few days due to heatwaves, campsites and some numpty driving into the back of the van, but normal blip service should resume shortly. In the meantime, thank you for your recent kind comments and stars.)
