Gelder Shiel

We spent the night at Gelder Shiel bothy, the small stone building next to the hunting lodge used by the Royal Family. The bothy is very well fitted out, and we got it lovely and warm with the multi-fuel stove. Today the cloud was down as far as the bothy, so we just walked out via the forest and Balmoral Castle. Very handily, I could get a bus to Invercauld to collect the car, avoiding having to hitch or walk 11km along a main road for the second weekend running!
