Nicky and her Nikon

Triple trouble

Yes sorry, it's Xena again! Tomorrow will be something different, I promise! I love how as a puppy her eyes are green - as an adult they will become amber coloured - the true to type Hungarian Vizsla is all one colour, the coat, eyes and even nose are all amber coloured.

She had a better night last night, Gavin again slept outside her crate and she slept through from about 11am until 6am, not bad for such a tiny pup. This morning we took her to the vet for her puppy check as required in the contract from the breeder, and she looks perfectly healthy and everything is as it should be. She will go back in 2 weeks time for her next set of inoculations and a week after that we can start walking her. We did go to our favourite cafe for a coffee after the vet, and she sat on my lap (as she cannot be placed on the ground outside the home until she is fully inoculated) and was as good as gold, getting lots of attention and fuss from people passing her, all part of developing her socialising skills.

After that it was back home and the young lady who is doggy sitting her tomorrow came around to meet her and to see what to do. You may recall that last year at a charity function Gavin successfully bid for tickets to Glyndebourne Opera, which included dinner there and a night's stay at a nearby hotel (in Eastbourne). We thought we would have to lose our tickets but then I asked this young lady who had made contact with me a few weeks ago, if she could come 'babysit' Xena for the time we are at the opera. She was very willing to do it and she seems lovely, I am sure Xena will be fine with her. We also managed to change the booking of the night's accommodation at the hotel to next month when Luke and Meriel can use it, so that too has not been forgone.

The only problem is tomorrow it is the annual Olympic route cycle race, which passes very near to our house and so all the roads around here are closed for the day. We have to go park the car a few roads away, in a road that is not closed, at 6.30am before they close the roads so that we can get out to go to Glyndebourne. The puppy sitter has to do the same, park some way from the house and then walk to our house. There have been many complaints about the cycle race causing so many roads in Surrey to be closed, so many people cannot get out of their properties, and in some cases people need to get to work. Emergency services cannot get through - local people have had enough and so in 2 years time the route is being reviewed to give people affected by this a break, when they will use another route (or so the councillor says). Of course it won't be the Olympic route but for the local residents enough is enough.
