Hornet mimic hoverfly

Besides loads of butterflies , especially Painted Ladies, the buddleia is also attracting all kinds of insects I've never seen before. This one looked kind of scary at first glance until I realised that its eyes were like hoverfly eyes. I think it is a hornet mimic hoverfly, clever beasts !
