An ordinary life....

Miles of smiles...

There was a great holiday atmosphere in the house this morning.  That air of excitement and anticipation as a holiday is about to begin and the last of the luggage is loaded into the car before it's finally time to set off.

The strange thing for David and me was whilst experiencing that atmosphere, it wasn't us going on holiday.  It was Alan going off on his first holiday without us!  That felt very strange.

My blip was taken just before they headed out the front door.  As you can see, Alan was absolutely devastated at leaving us behind!  lol

We went out to the driveway and waved them off then came in, closed the front door and looked at each other as the silence of the house filled our ears.  No Dolly Parton Christmas special blaring from Alan's tv.  No Buble crooning It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  No different to when Alan goes out for the day I suppose but it felt strange to think he's gone for a week!

They were only gone a few minutes when we realised they'd forgotten to take the refrigerated food shopping I had organised for them.  David phoned Ashleigh and they pulled over so he could chase after them with the supplies.  Mission accomplished.

David then headed off to the golf course and I returned to the sweatshop kitchen table to begin making Christmas cards.  Seems I can't avoid that Christmas connection!  :-))

Homemade fish and chips for dinner and a text from Ashleigh saying all going well and a shot of the view from the living room of the cottage (see extra) I think they're going to have a great time :-))
