Gannet

Over to Hoy on a very foggy day, but visibility at the nest-site was actually pretty decent most of the day. An adult was at the nest and then moved off to a perch and it was a while before we spotted the chick in deep heather a couple of metres from the nest. It doesn't seem to be flying yet though there was a fair bit of hopping and flapping. It did take to the air for about 2-3 metres downhill but it was more a short glide than flying. Ravens and a peregrine were about too, and the continuing jousts between gannet and bonxie provided something to photograph.
