a coworker was fired today

Technically he was allowed to resign.
I am really not ok about it. 
He didn't do something wrong. 
Apparently he had been on a performance improvement plan for a long time, so I guess someone decided he wasn't doing things right. 
I like him. 
I texted him and told him he was awesome. I left him a positive reference on LinkedIn. I'll send him information on events he can go to for networking. 
Life can be hard.
