2nd Sat Strollers

The Pentland Hills

This month's 2nd Saturday walk will be on Saturday 10th August, and we're returning to The Pentlands; meeting at the "Flotterstone Information Point" in Midlothian - some details below:

- 10am, Saturday 10th August 2019
- at the Flotterstone Information Point (see: http://www.pentlandhills.org/info/3/about_the_park/30/visit_us_visitor_centres/3)

- there is a large car park at Flotterstone; and public transport options (buses 101 and 102 are best) are detailed in this leaflet:
http://www.pentlandhills.org/pentlandhills/download/downloads/id/88/how_to_get_to_the_pentland_hills_by_bus.pdf
- car-spaces (from Shandon) may also be available to share ... do just let me know if you need a lift?

- the walk will start and end at Flotterstone
- we'll go a short way up Turnhouse Hill; traverse around the eastern flanks of the hill; go down to the gap between Glencorse and Loganlea Reservoirs; then climb up onto Black Hill and along to Gask Hill; before descending back to the track along Glencorse and returning to Flotterstone
- the whole route is around 8-miles in length, and should take us between 4-5hours including a lunch-stop :-)

- the route is 'Walk 19' from the guidebook in the snap ;-)

- most importantly: there's a pub at the end of the walk, see: http://www.flotterstoneinn.com

- there is some straightforward, hill-climbing involved in this month's route; so good footwear and waterproof kit required
- and do bring along some food/packed-lunch etc. --- but we can also obviously get some food/drink when we finish at the Flotterstone Inn :-)

If you're interested and want any further detail, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly!

P.S. just in case Spots of Time and/or Livresse are reading this ... had to switch the Fife Coastal Path 'chain walk' into October, due to logistical challenges this coming Saturday!
