Smokey 1414 hr (Wednesday 7th August 2019)

During Gardening Wednesday Smokey was experiencing difficulties getting the 23 hours of undisturbed rest to which he is entitled without being disturbed by Refna with her gardening tools or me with my watering can. He began in the flower bed opposite the patio, moved to one of the green chairs, then to another garden patch, the central round bed, the driveway patch and finally, suspiciously, back to where he began.

I read the other day that old lenses designed for 35mm film cameras would all work on full frame cameras without any vignetting, unlike many of their digital equivalents which were designed with APS-C in mind. This made sense to me, so as I still have a couple of old lenses left from those days I decided to put onto my state-of-the-art Pentax K-1 Mk II an old, very heavy manual focus 28-210mm lens that I bought in the seventies, and tried it out on Smokey on his first snooze spot. Despite using various zoom settings, the EXIF data resolutely claimed 35mm for every image in full frame mode, but otherwise the lens worked well, certainly without any vignetting.

Work centred on the driveway bed, so that a tumbledown fence belonging to neighbours can be safely removed and replaced at the weekend.

I'd never heard of this outfit before but the album of the same title was featured by Stuart Maconie on his 6 Music Freak Zone programme on 28th July, which I caught up with today. They seem ahead of their time.
