Sgùrr nan Gillean

The weather was much better than we thought it might be so we set off with C to have a go at getting up Knight’s Peak, which had been thought to be a Munro top at one stage. The blip was taken on the way down but was a wee lochan where an artist was setting up his stuff as we went up. Truth be told it was much better weather in the afternoon, but I suspect he got a good picture. S and I only wanted to get up the hill in the easiest way possible and that seemed to involve the so called tourist route up Sgùrr nan Gillean but then going on up the coire when it turned off. The weather was fine until about 150 metres below the difficulties when it began to rain. Our friend C is a real optimist so he set off up the damp rock without worry, but found it rather more slimy than he hoped, and as he didn’t have the right nuts to provide a runner decided that discretion was the better part of valour so he came down. However he is so much of an enthusiast said we should come back with more gear the next day. Of course as we went down the weather improved, the sun came out and it was quite warm. The collage is Knight’s Peak with mist behind it on the way up a distant view of the familiar skyline of the northern Cuillin and an afternoon and morning picture of the hills around Blaven.

Yesterday’s blip.
