Sgùrr nan Gillean

The previous evening we were joined by TheHairyPict, and he readily agreed to the second attempt on Knights’s Peak. It was a bit warmer on Saturday, so it was a shorts day as we made our way back up the tourist path. At about the same point it rained on Friday there were a few drops of rain, but luckily it stopped before we got to the chimney. C had more climbing gear and it was a lot drier so he was able to get up the chimney and belayed at the col. I made my way up but found the chimney rather awkward with my rucsac and struggled up on a tight rope. However I got there and S and B followed on. The route from the col to the top is an exposed scramble but not technically very hard, so we were soon at the top of Knight’s Peak and had a good view as well, so job done with the only real progress to Munro compleation out of the way. That leaves us with 6 Munros and 1 top, so we had best be a little quicker than Knight’s Peak which took 9 years between thinking about it and then doing it. C had thought we would traverse to the west ridge of Sgùrr nan Gillean and then go and have a look at the Bàsteir Tooth but the cloud was coming in and we thought we might as well go back the way we came. We all down-climbed on the rope and he the abseiled before we went to the Sligachan Hotel for a drink. My blip is Sgùrr nan Gillean, Am Bàsteir and Sgùrr a’Bhàsteir from the Allt Dearg Mòr near Sligachan and the composite yesterday’s lochan on the way up, Blàbheinn, the view from the col below Knight’s Peak and yesterday’s lochan as we came down the hill, but looking further south.

Yesterday’s blip.
