Wild Wetland

I initially shot a wider scene than this in landscape orientation that included a tree trunk. But then I realised that what attracted me was the big shiny leaves, I've no idea what they are. Then I remembered reading Ken Rothwell's advice many moons ago: the key to good photography is - SEX - Simplify and EXclude.

So after a couple of other attempts, I reduced my composition to focus in on the main subject more closely. Thinking about it now maybe I should have gone further and tried to isolate the leaves closer still. The dried reeds are a distraction especially coming in from the side as they do. Lessons learnt and forgotten!
