Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Art Date

Decided “we” needed to look at some art today so off to the Seattle Art Museum to see the Victorian Radicals, an exhibition from the museum in Birmingham, UK of Pre-Raphaelites and Arts and Crafts, a period I’m very fond of.   (1840-1910)   The painting in the blip is early,  a PRE Pre Raphaelite more from that recent  industrial era,  (can't remember the artist) but what I wanted to catch was this woman’s dress which just has to be a William Morris design (or lookalike) .   (no I didn’t ask her)   She could be part of the exhibit.  Lots of paintings from the short lived period  around 1850 of the painters who used brighter colors  (synthetic) and real people, not nudes, and painted nature from nature:  beauty in an ugly industrial era. and some lovely handmade decorative art  pieces, ceramics, jewelry, textiles,  books, silver and glass when the “crafts” were elevated to art and there were lots of workshops.   A whole room for William Morris.
There was also an astonishing photography exhibit of South African artist Zanele Muholi. (extra)
 Lots of walking today.
And our Volvo:   is too fancy…some problem with the hybrid battery telling us the air bags won’t work.  A “special” engineer is coming to check it out tomorrow.   (this is the reason we’ve leased, not bought this car, the first of their hybrid models….it’s made it through one year. )
