Backblip 14 August: Old fashioned hospitality

We have been in Charroux for a couple of nights. This is where we ate a well-earned meal last night and had a most delightful time doing so. The epitome of faded elegance and a good (great value) meal of traditional French regional cuisine, with a modern edge to it. A warm and friendly service in what is honestly a rather down at heel establishment - not that they are giving in to these hard times, not  a bit of it!

It was charming and we shall return. Unfortunately we had the last bottle of a very good St Emilion and there will be none of it to return for later...

Nell's walk was something of the order of ten kilometres - I got over 17,000 paces recorded on my FitBit and was frankly flagging towards the end under a hot sun. This may be entirely due to the previous evenings repast at The Green Man Inn, where I partook of both real ales and Guinness. In large glasses. That was fun too.

We liked Charroux, we enjoyed the walking, and the motorhome aire was very pleasant (if a little crowded at this time of year). We will return time and again, I think. Pints will not be off the agenda.

Extras today, both from Charroux
