(Barely) Barley Wet

What a miserable day - it feels like April, not August. And it's raining. I think we can officially call this a wash out of a summer. Luke is having four friends over to a BBQ tonight - as you do when it is raining - and they are staying over for the night so my fridge is full to bursting with food for supper and breakfast to feed all these large hungry men.

I went to the hairdresser today, while Luke looked after Xena. On the way there I noticed this field of barley - or wheat, I can never tell the difference - and pulled over and got a shot in the rain.

Thank you for all the kind comments about Thomas, he went out last night to celebrate and he said the club was full of mainly A level students all celebrating - or drowning their sorrows - whichever was more appropriate. A few of his very good friends missed making their university offers, it's a tough situation to handle when you are 18 years old.

Last night we put Xena into her crate to go to sleep at 10.30 pm, and she slept right through the night! At 6.30am when Gavin was leaving for work he woke her up to go outside for a wee, she came out her crate, stretched and yawned and promptly went back in again without the need for a wee. Ditto again at 7.30am when I went down to the kitchen. I finally woke up Miss Lazy Bones at 8.30am with breakfast and only then did she go outside for a wee, so her bladder control is much improved now. Her sibling-who-was-not-wanted has been rescued by the breeder and is currently with her getting lots of cuddles, and she is doing well - she may keep her or may re-home her if the right forever home is found.
