Pumpkin

I nipped over to the market for a couple of essentials, then, leaving the young visitors to their own Fringe schedule, headed up to the allotment for a three-hour stint - not that you would notice the difference afterwards. Finally got round to planting out some of the leeks, much too late probably, but fingers crossed. Also sowed some more salad veg for autumn eating, in case none are available in the shops after Oct 31st.

I think we'll probably have a pumpkin or two as well.... the blip shows the result of putting two plants in holes in the membrane that's over our gash compost heap. Also picked the first borlotti beans. And the extra shows the shape of things to come from amongst the undergrowth in the back border.

Later I went up town on a no 35 (a-aargh!) and eventually met up with E & C who had been to an improv show featuring my semi-nephew (and E's semi-cousin) Dan. It was great to see Dan again who seemed to be on good form. We had a beer in the Grassmarket (I know) at vast expense, then went up to St Mary's St to get a plate of reasonable food in the Fig Tree.  On our way back up to the bus stop I bumped into Attila the Stockbroker who was heading in the opposite direction to do a show. As you do.
