Longsword dancing at Whitby

It’s Whitby Folk Week and we’re just here for the weekend without tickets to see and join in the free stuff!

A lovely sunny day and we walked along the front at Whitby. A pair of turnstones were pecking around on the steps down to the water- easy pickings! Extra photo.

The other extra is of some of the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey. I’ve climbed them in the past but am not fit enough to do it at the moment.

We watched the dancing by the station, the photo is of a longsword side with the star of swords that they weave in the dance.

We went to the park where F went to the museum and I watched the dance parade then went to a music session.

After a meal at the Indian restaurant we went to a couple of evening music sessions where I enjoyed joining in with the tunes.
