Stuff and Nonsense

Cormorant #76

Backblip
I've not been birding for a couple of weeks and have really been missing it. So, on our anniversary, we had a long lie in and then headed down to Pennington Flash for a couple of hours. I had heard that the recent rain had flooded lots of areas so was a bit apprehensive about what I'd find, but it was better than expected and no need for wellies.
The birding wasn't too good as there wasn't very much around in the way of unusual sightings. It was lovely to watch the common terns and hirundines swooping and diving into the water, which was higher than I have ever seen it. No sign of the kingfishers, as half of their posts are under water. This cormorant had found one that was still just about visible and was drying his wings in the sunshine.

After a quick visit to the shops, we headed home to change for dinner and had a lovely meal out together. A very relaxing and enjoyable anniversary.
