Foulshaw Moss

This morning I visited Foulshaw Moss nature reserve for the first time and was very impressed.  Almost all the paths are on raised boardwalks over the bog and this morning there were countless common lizards basking on the warm boards.  One of them (above) was just in the process of shedding its skin. There are distant views to be had of Ospreys on their nest and feeding over the Kent Estuary but they are too far off for photography and are seen much more clearly on the cctv installed in the hut.  The walkways also abound with dragonflies.  Today was a bit blustery for butterflies but I guess it will be good for them too.  I was also able to see a female adder coiled up and basking in the sunshine (extra).  I shall certainly be returning here.
