Japanese Anemone

I love the pure simplicity of these flowers which give a lift to the garden when everything else is flagging.

Much of the day was spent at the computer, catching up with emails and Wildlife Trust matters, entering data from Scotland and finally getting around to processing and labelling my photographs from Romania.

Between the showers I went out into the garden to do a bit more clearance - the rainy summer has caused a huge amount of growth and we now have large mounds of cut material to compost. But it's beginning to look a bit more in control - although we manage the garden with wildlife firmly in mind, it was beginning to get a bit too wild after a summer of neglect. Still plenty more to do though!
