Golden Oat

Alex and I spent most of the day at Simpsonhill Plantation, carrying out monitoring of an acid grassland restoration. As usual, it was extremely hot in this very sheltered sand quarry and we were glad to finish by about 3 p.m.

Back home I spent some time with my camera in the garden - every year I'm stunned by the delicate beauty of the flowers of Golden Oat Stipa gigantea, which sways in response to every tiny breeze.
