Stromness Harbour

Sorry to say goodbye to Orkney today. The sun was out when we were packing up, but by the time we were at waiting for the ferry at Stromness, it had started raining again. Most of the way down to Inverness and through the Cairngorms National Park was very windy, occasionally very wet.  Managed to get this (extra) shot of the Ruthven Barracks ruins. These were built by George II in the 1700s as a show of force after the Highland clearances. A sorry episode of history, for sure.
