Lucifer

A day spent preparing for fieldwork in Oxfordshire tomorrow. I'd planned to go out in the evening to try and photograph something special, but just as I was about to leave the sun sank behind the clouds, so I decided to wait for a better day. 

The buds of the Crocosmia cultivar 'Lucifer' almost glowed in the early evening gloom. This plant can always be relied on to provide some late summer colour and has appeared in my journal several times before, at varying stages in it development!
