A first!

This is the first Brimstone Butterfly that I’ve ever photographed, a first for me and a first for our garden, though I did wonder if I glimpsed one earlier in the week.  If I did it flew over the garden fence before I had a chance to look closely.  This one hung around feeding for quite a while today, visiting our garden and our neighbours weedy patch that still has Red Valerian flowering.  It’s been a good day for photographing butterfly as it’s been a beautiful day and the wind has dropped.  There have been plenty of butterflies around all this week but conditions meant it would have been hopeless to try and get an image.  So today there have been Painted Ladies, Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, one Comma and several small whites (some looking a bit tatty).  I haven’t seen the Gatekeeper today but he might have been when I wasn’t around.

Fox Valley this morning, for the healthy foods like fruit and veg and the unhealthy ones, like cake!  A visit to Seasalt where we won chocolate and a 20% discount, so we had to buy something.  And a hair cutting this afternoon.  Our last visit to this venue as the Sports Centre wants the space back and the team are all splitting up for new venues or mobile working.
