Nicky and her Nikon

Another very hot day, 31C again, bright and sunny. Apparently it is the hottest bank holiday on record.

While Luke and Meriel took Xena for a walk in the woods this morning, Gavin and I went to the airport to fetch Adam who is home after his travels around Central America and Miami. He has had a wonderful trip and the highlight was the final week in Miami where they went to a NFL American football match, a baseball match and to one of the famous clubs that apparently was the best he has ever been to. Sport matches in the USA are just so very different from anything we ever see in the UK or Europe, they are such a spectacle of sound, music, lighting etc. so they are extremely entertaining which the boys all loved.

Today's Mono Monday theme is moments...there were many of those today. The moment we spotted Adam in the arrivals hall at the airport and I was relieved that he was home safe and sound (without any tattoos and only a rather dodgy haircut!), the moment he met Xena who tried to get into his backpack, the moment he could relax over lunch and tell us all about his trip.

For lunch we went out to a pub which allows dogs - it was not good and I regretted going. As it was another scorching hot day here, I hoped to be sitting outside in their garden but all the seats were taken so it was not ideal being inside a pub on such a beautiful day. Not sure what is happening to all the pubs around here, so many are disappointing these days after formerly being very good. This photo was taken at the pub and I liked the patterns here - stripes, checks, lines and shapes.

Tomorrow it is Adam's birthday...
