MonoMonday: Moment!

If you saw my blip from 17th you'll be experiencing déja vue!

On that day I showed some of the mess caused by soot fall in the chimney when the workmen dismantled the chimney stack in order to rebuild it.

If you saw my blip from 24th you''ll know that it's now been rebuilt (very nicely).

After the mess which resulted from the dismantling (which showed us that we'd not tried hard enough to protect the room from muck) we increased the protection considerably. Nevertheless a fair bit of fine black powder escaped to settle on nearby horizontal surfaces in the room.

Well the photo here shows the moment when I plucked up the courage to peel back the cover from the fireplace to see how much more muck had come down into the fireplace itself during the rebuilding. The answer was - quite a lot!

(The 2-gallon bucket in the inset shows how much I subsequently removed.)

You'll be pleased to know that the room is now nice and clean again. Hopefully that'll be the end of the muck in the house from this job!

Thanks so much to 60plus for hosting MonoMonday so well this month.
