Sunbeams

Pider!

as my granddaughter would observe.  This is the Araneus diadematus, or Garden Spider, found everywhere in Britain except perhaps in the north of Scotland.  They spin orb webs and then sit waiting in the centre and pounce on any unsuspecting insect that entangles itself in the sticky silk.
This one lives on the outside of my hall window and spends most of the day in the shade.  It has pretty colours and I prefer them to house spiders which can be a challenge!  The other morning I awoke with a scream having dreamt a big black spider had dropped on to my duvet.
