Backblip : Whistling Sands

We parked in the National Trust car park at Porthmor, to do a bit of coastal walking.

In the morning we walked north from the beach at Whistling Sands.

In the afternoon we walked south from the beach, heading for a line of ancient hut circles. The heather was in full flower everywhere (extra). Absolutely glorious, this must be how heaven looks.

Between times we had lunch on the beach - fruit scones and butter, and ginger beer. The café is an old coal store which is now roofed. Behind it, up the hill, is the now disused jasper quarry.

But now it’s all beach fun.

One of the things I love about North Wales and Llyn is it’s welsh speaking character. As we sat on the beach little kids and their parents were chattering away in their native tongue. I am always slightly amazed at travelling not very far and finding that it’s all change. One of the delights of the UK.
