The Old Forge (Wednesday 28th August 2019)

My neighbours at Toad Hall next door on Tuesday offered me the chance to salvage some bricks that they were about to take to the skip, including the handmade vintage bricks that I have blipped. I spent Wednesday morning hacking out a space for them in front of the shed and when Refna arrived for the afternoon we got the newer ones stacked there (see Extra), and the rest stored nearby for use in the garden. Some were placed around the vine patch to be dug in vertically as a border at a future date, and work continued on clearing a patch of ivy and turning the soil over on the patch opposite the patio.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Bessie Smith - Me And My Gin (recorded 25 October 1928, New York NY, for Columbia)
with Joe Williams (trombone) and Porter Grainger (piano)
Recorded just over 91 years ago, and rag time blues has been shown to have remarkable resilience. "I don't want no clothes and I don't need no bed. I don't want no pork-chops, just give me gin instead." Can't argue with that.
