A Fairy Tale Castle.......

Completely surrounded by water, the castle dominates the lake from the top of the keep it's highest tower.  Analysis of the walls some years ago led to the 1st phase of the castle being dated back to the 13th century, the second to the first years of the 14th century, and the third to the mid-14th century when the dock was fortified. I think the castle is wonderful and amazing that it's still here for us to enjoy today.  If you visit any of the numerous towns around the lake, as the boat pulls into the dock you can see similar fortresses in most places.

It's been our pen-ultimate day and we leave tomorrow at 4pm, there'll be just enough time for a last look round - and a last blip of course. :-)
