Nation

This statue of Ataturk is in downtown Didim at the heart of tonight's traffic and people on this national holiday to celebrate Victory Day in the war of Independence in 1922 that established Turkey as an independent, democratic nation. Seen as Graham drove us home from his fav bar where we had spend a jolly and well lubricated evening chatting with some of the local Brits who live here.  This was at the end of a day that had included, along with mandatory pool time of course,  kitchen tile shopping with the builder decorator (new kitchen almost finished) and a late lunch in Akbuk with Graham while his car was given the much needed inside and out cleanse that it has yearned for.  In fact, so shiny is it now that the topic was the subject of much ribaldry this evening and I felt very royal when being driven home.

weather watch: very hot
