Sgwarnog: In the Field

Ponderosa

For our last outing of the summer holidays 15yo, 11yo and I caught the train down to Sheffield and had an afternoon poking about parks, museums and galleries.

We started with a tram ride up to Weston Park where we headed directly to the museum as some unexpected rain showers had arrived. We enjoyed the Joe Scarborough exhibition, particularly getting to see so much work that is in private hands.

Noticing that the sun had come out we headed out for football in the park, and then an exploration of the neighbouring green spaces across the road. We found this artificial climbing boulder in the Ponderosa, although it’s size defeated the kids this time.

We walked back into town, ending up at the Millennium Gallery  which we hadn’t visited before. There’s a good Ruskin themed exhibition on at the moment. Then back home, after a pause for the prerequisite family portrait in Sheaf Square.

And now back to the reality of five day work weeks for me for the next few months, and rather more significantly the reality of GCSE year for 15yo and the reality of stepping up to big school for 11yo.
