Forth Bridge

Eight people on the August Spokes Ride to Aberdour. Was apprehensive when it was wet at 8 and thundery showers forecast from 11am onward. However the morning was almost rain free, apart from a wee shower at the bridge. Dry in Fife apart from a few spits and spots between Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay. Nice and sunny when we got to Silversands beach for a picnic lunch followed by a great coffee and cake.

We left sharpish at 1:30. Clouds very dark when we got to the bridge. Coats donned at the south end of the bridge as light rain started, accompanied by thunder. As we headed on to Rosebury Ave, rain turned torrential. Two riders hid in a car shelter at a medical centre, while five of us sheltered under trees at the sports centre. One rider carried on. The five carried on when the rain relented, and we caught up with the other rider at Dalmeny, who'd come off his bike on a flooded road, no injuries. The rain reinvigorated meant one headed to a bus shelter, while the remaining five headed to the A90 (More flooded roads, I was almost surfing on waves created by cars as they passed). Once through Cramond Brig, the roads were dry.

In all a good ride made Epic.
