King of the Marsh

This Belted Kingfisher is one of two that 'patrols' the marsh.  No sign of the Kestrel today so perhaps it managed to drive it off?   Hard to believe that a raptor would be driven off by a fisher but maybe it wasn't worth the hassle. We shall see...I will return many times before the weather turns cold to see what new drama unfolds!

A day at work followed by a long walk with the sun shining.  Feels like summer again.  Sadly, it had been cloudy for most of the day, causing the Snowbirds to do their traditional fly-over but only just that.  I can't blame them. I imagine visibility is very important for their precision flying.
