Leighton Moss

After some heavy rain during the night, today started bright and sunny.  I walked down to Grange station and caught the train to Silverdale, two stops down the line, and walked to Leighton Moss RSPB nature reserve.  Although they warned me that it was quite a quiet period it wasn't long before I had seen a marsh harrier flying overhead near the Grisedale Hide and then I saw an osprey flying over the water (see extra) from the Lower Hide.  The picture above is taken from the Causeway Hide and shows a cluster of redshanks and a black-tailed godwit.  After lunch the weather started to deteriorate rapidly so I beat a retreat back to the station and home.
